Ive been on this server for 4 years now so i thought id make a try for something better than reg. What i have here today is Conways game of life in minecraft. Each cell is 4x4x20 = 320 blocks which is one if the smallest ones ive seen, the smallest ive seen working. each cell is stackable and can be turned on and off with two separate note blocks. The entire thing runs on a clock that ive hooked up to it, the speed of the clock is not the fastest that the cells can handle for lag reasons. ive prepared a 20x20 grid with a glider for you to test it with. feel free to draw your own shapes. Im not sure if its necessary but to stay on the safe side i would wait 0.5 seconds after changing one cell before moving on to the next.
(this next part is not a machine feature)
While judging this and ultimately my skills if possible i would like you to take in to consideration my knowledge of door redstone. i also made a lights out with 2x2x8 cells which to my knowledge is the smallest one possible with a good looking display. also got a 2x2x7 but that one has an ugly display.

How To Use:

To turn of or on a cell use the noteblocks. at -289 162 2271 there should be better visual instructions. to do a generation just turn on the clock and look at the board. its 0 player game so dont change any of the cells while the clock is running. Also turn off the clock before leaving the area. i dont know what unloading it would do while running it.

video note: the one you see running in the video is a slightly older version of the one i have right now. it could stack forever due to a bug, but that is fixed in the current verision.

I heard that clocks are bad, so i removed both observer clocks from the cells. Made it 1 block deeper not counting the dust on top. The new cell is on display next to the old one at -289 162 2271. i have not replaced the cells in the 20x20 grid i made with the new one but that would be quick and easy to do with WE.

New solid state cell is stacked in a 6x6 grid at -288 199 2192

The new one is 275b per cell not counting the dust on top. it can be found at -170 70 2199. it has no observer clocks and each cell is 5x5 instead of the old 4x4. the 5x5 allowed it to be way shorter which is how i got it to be smaller

lots of comments lol. i removed the dust on top on the new version. the lamps in the display are still solid powered and sync with each other. working on removing the buttons to use noteblocks instead

added a reset to the new one so you can turn off all cells at once. it can clock at 44ticks. i fixed some reliability issues
