Why are you interested in joining this server?:
I am looking to build and show more technical builds with other people on Minecraft. Servers that have redstone enabled are hard to find let alone one with as much enabled. I am in the process of completing a BsC in Computer Science and redstone gives me a nice balance between keeping the mind active and having fun. Countless other servers just have too much restrictions on redstone. I also think it would be good to talk with both like-minded people and also people who are able to question or challenge my views on redstone. Redstone also really holds a special place in my heart, as trivial as it sounds redstone was my first introduction to logic problems at a young age and I am fairly certain set me down my career path.
Current Redstone knowledge:
My redstone knowledge is quite vast and also abstract. I try not to think in terms of what each item or block can do but rather the unique properties or differences it has to others. Say for instance take the dirt block and the stone block; while they both may not be redstone blocks they do both hold differing properties which can be used to solve technical problems in minecraft: Dirt | Stone No tool required to drop | Pickaxe required Noteblock harp | Bass drum Hoe into farmland | Infestable by silverfish Being able to apply knowledge like this and understand the differences between blocks and items is vital to being skilled in creating machines and redstone mechanics in Minecraft. The idea isn't to "know everything" as it's an unrealistic expectation. If you can learn what to look out for and how to apply it in practise, you can then engineer solutions to problems.
Past Redstone Experience:
Currently my most recent project has been a functioning XOR encryption algorithm in Minecraft, using observers, redstone dust, stone, droppers, hoppers, redstone lamps, and most importantly comparators. This has been a somewhat more intruiging project to work on and I will continue to work on it till I am happy with my results. I've so far achieved implementation of two different algorithms, and will continue to work on a good variety. Does this project have any usage? As far as I can see not really, there are most definitely better ways to achieve this redudant task but I'm happy with it as it's coinceding with some of coursework on my current CS module.
About how often do you play Minecraft?:
6-10 hours per day
Application status:
Approved
What kind of creations would you like to build on this server?:
Honestly the things I will build will mostly be redstone implementations of computer science concepts, and will most likely just align with whatever I am currently doing in my course. If I get accepted right now? I'd begin working on more complex XOR encryption algorithms in Redstone. I hope to somehow in the future get a very basic SSL implementation functioning but I think this is fairly ambitious for just now.
