Why are you interested in joining this server?:
I know a lot about redstone, but that is all self-taught. There is a lot more for me to learn, and this is definitely the place to learn it. I am a Twitch streamer, very small, but slowly growing. I mostly stream minecraft, and am currently building a water fall show. I met a guy named Marc who showed me this server, and I want to join so I can help him build some advanced redstone systems, and expand my knowledge at the same time.
Current Redstone knowledge:
Currently the only things I don't know about redstone are certain types of systems. eg. typewriters, calculators, memory, ext. As well as what all of the applications of things like comparators, and repeaters(the signal locking). I have my A&P certification(aircraft maintenance), so a big part of that was electricity. From those courses I learned about logic gates, different number systems like binary, and just all the basics of DC and AC electricity. So I see the similarities of DC electricity and redstone.
Past Redstone Experience:
Personally my favorite project is the one I'm currently working on, It is a waterfall show. The whole thing has been built on survival. All of the redstone is inside a giant sphere. The bottom of the sphere is 50 blocks from the ground. The water sits inside the sphere and is released by sticky pistons moving blocks of the sphere, allowing the water to fall, and is divided up into 4 sections. The signal to the water is applied to each section by repeaters, giving the longest delay to the center, so the water cascades from the ends to the center when released. At the heart of the system is an automatic switch which directs signal to 12 different paths. It has one input and one output, but is directed to a different part of the system each time, and the output is always a single tick. The initial signal comes from a button on the ground that travels up by redstone torch and block towers, and then goes through a 2:15 second timer, made from 338 repeaters set on a 4 tick delay, because it takes 2:15 for the water to completely get cleared to the bottom. When the show is active, it goes through 2 stages. It releases water from sides 1-4 twice, and then from all sides 4 times. This is why the automatic switch has 12 paths. There are 4 buttons in all that control the system. A "water on/off" button, that turns on and off all sides of the water, turns on all 4 of the water fountains on the ground, and all of the lava, that spirals from the sphere to the ground. A "show on" button that starts the show. A "repeat" button, that will allow the show to continuously run, until turned off. And finally a "system reset" button, that returns all pistons to the original position, in case a part of the system doesn't function the right way from the computer glitching. The buttons have their own bit of redstone down on the ground. When a button is pressed, the lantern that the button is on is lite up. When the show button, and reset button is pressed they automatically turn off once their function is completed. The water, and repeat button stays lite until pressed again. If the water button is on, and the show on button is pressed, the water is automatically turned of, and the signal goes through the timer to then start the show once the water is cleared. The 4 fountains on the ground go through 4 phases. Off, position 1, pos 2, and pos 3. In pos 1, only 1 fountain is turned on at a time going counterclockwise. In pos 2, the 2 adjacent fountains are on, then switch to the other set of adjacent fountains. Pos 3 is just like pos 1, but it is the inverse. So all the fountains are on, then only 1 is turned off at a time going counterclockwise. This system depends on sticky pistons and monostable circuits, which is made from the same design of automatic switch as the main one. The positions are changed from signal that travels down from the main automatic switch in the sphere, and changes from pos 0 to pos 1 at the begining of the show, then to from pos1 to pos 2 after it cycles through sides 1-4 the first time, then from pos 2 to pos 3 after it cycles through sides 1-4 the second time, and from pos 3 back to pos 0 after it cycles through all sides releasing 4 times. The lava spirals are turned on and off 4 times throughout the show. When the show is over, everything is turned off, and all buttons are functional again.
