I have a list of server-wide builds that i think we should all work together on to acheive! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE comment your opinion, and add suggestions for other builds. This will be strictly redstone related.
1.) BCD Conveter using the Double Dabble algorithm. This converts numbers to Binary Coded Decimal format.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_dabble
2.) A full on ALU with the following functions: AND, OR, XOR, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Square root, Squaring, Logarithm, and hopefully Sin, Cos, Tan.
3.) Large memory bank that can hold over 8000 bits of memory. (current record as far as i know iw 4000)
Any suggestions/input?
Note: I strong understanding of binary is needed to even comprehend how to do this
I'm not letting this topic die
1 thats already been made (i think)
2 it would be easier to build a computer to do thoes functions.
3 Interesting idea. but i am not in for it.
#3 is the only one that hasn't already been made, thanks for the input.
Shouldn't be too hard if we have enough people working on it.
Now if only I could be added to the whitelist...
These ideas are really nice ones. Personally, I know how to make memory that will reach into the kilobyte range. It's MASSIVE, and I know that. i also know that the designs I use could be WE stacked to produce a HUGE amount of memory. It wouldn't amaze me to be able to have over the 4KB record within the redstone update distance for a single player.
This sounds like a really good idea. I want to help, but I haven't been white listed yet. I signed up yesterday.
Ok, just a quick update... #1 is completely done, #2 has been started, but in fragments, and #3 could be done with the smart design of batman's RAM, and would only need some expanding using world edit, and it is practically done. Any more ideas of server-wide projects?
Post them all here!
Well the biggest project (and I mean the biggest redstone project ever) is already underway. But it has ground to a stop. It is the 32bit computer project. We need to get more people working in it!
There is no point of making a 32 bit computer when we are not doing it correctly the first time. I mean if we make things as compact, and full of functions like those Goodby told about. I can ensure you that he isn't speaking of a ULA with function that doesn't work togheter. I think... That he want's to make like a way more advanced verson of my computer. Bigger, faster, more functions and very user friendly. But that is what I think, I could be completly wrong.
Besides, Flandyn's 8 bit CPU crashes the server, a 32 bit one? o.O I think not
Actually, what I mean is just an alu. It could be used in a CPU, but I'm not concerned with that... Btw, we are doing everything in 16 bits with the exceptIon of multiplication(8-bit) and exponents(3-bit) we need people to build square root, logarithms, and trigonometry functions... So far I have had virtually no help building the rest of them from any1 except onlybob who inspired some of my designs.
So is the server up for you guys?
Please read the first new post on the homepage or read the twitter feed.
EM???????????
The server is going trough a Intermittent ISP issues, please read the front news for more information :)

Also.. We should make a youtube video of what we make a advertise it.
Good Idea though remember to show what we want to show. Like The Wiki Adder sin't that much to brief about... That was just an example.
