Possibly a modded server?

Me and a couple other players were talking on the server today, and the idea of a custom modpack server came up. I personally really like the idea of having a custom modded server, that all of the players can make advanced machines, and whatnot with. Mods like Thermal Expansion, Immersive Engineering, Applied Energistics, and other mods like that. Of course mods related to redstone type wires would be included also! I know Project Red has that theme.

Now I know what you are thinking. This is another one of those things that the server staff would need to put together, and work on to get it out to the public. Actually, I could do that. I have experience making modpacks, and uploading them to the FTB launcher. I have been through the task before. I know quite a few tech mods, as well as nice aesthetic mods.

Now for this plan to work, there would need to be a lot of thinking and consideration. Would the server be creative or survival? If it were creative, people would have everything they needed easily, without any trouble. Although, in survival, getting machines can give you a very nice feeling, and in survival, there are some nice things that creative does not have to offer. Using survival, ore generation can be altered, and recipes can be changed, but in creative mode, the world could be a flat world.
Another thing to thing about would be if it is in a normal world, or in a skyblock world? If this idea is approved, I have a cool little mod that I am working on, that makes an island generated like the End island, but with the surface "populator"(Puts in all the stone, and ores, and whatnot). That is another thing. If that were used, would multiple people spawn on one island, would there be multiple islands, would each person get their own island?

I hope this idea gets approved, or the staff at least take this into consideration.
Thank you for reading this :)

This is my opinion.

If you meant to make a sideserver for the mods, there are many problems.
1.More monitoring.
Currently in my opinion the staff team has not enough staffs to monitor both server. Imagine that: 2 consoles to look at, or 2 minecraft windows for both servers. This will make staffs so much more busy.
2.More coding
woesh has always been busy in coding only for this server. If you want to add another server and even +Modded, oh man. How much time does he need to set up the whole thing.
3.The most important one - Minecraft udpates
Okay. Assume that woesh has even succeeded to create that server and made it stable. But what happens when Minecraft updates? Codes needs to be updated for BOTH server, and updating servers are really painful(as much as i know)!

If you meant to make this whole server to become a modded server, as much as i know that having a mod that lets you make something that you cant make in vanilla is not the goal of this server.

Rip english, Hope you can understand what i was talking :P but thats just my opinion. Thanks for reading

Re: This is my opinion

You make some very good points. Here is my counter :P. and you are right on it being a side server.

1. About the monitoring
If it were to be made, it would be like another server. Another server that has different mechanics. The current staff are accustomed to vanilla Minecraft mechanics. With new mechanics, there would need to be new people to specialize in those mechanics, resulting in staff, specific to the modded server.
2. Coding?
Now, I have been thinking about this, for a little bit now. Ever since the new eula came out, Cauldron(A server that has forge, and bukkit built in) has had to be taken down, like CraftBukkit. I do not know if a combination of spigot, and forge has been made yet. That would be ideal. And Woesh could have help. I know quite a few people, like myself that can program plugins. And the setup with the new server file, is quite simple. You just setup the new file as a "library".
3. Updates
This is one I didn't make that clear did I? The version would just be on one version. With updates, mods will need to update, and that is not ideal. 1.7.10 is a very good version, because that version has a lot of the OG mods. The Thermal series, IE, AE, and a lot of the original mods. Sure It wouldn't be 1.10, but it would have a lot of the nice mods people like. There is also beginning to be quite a large modding community in 1.10. People have new ideas, and are making some cool mods, but the thing is, they are still in development. As there were major changes between 1.8, 1.9, and 1.10, mods have been taking a little longer to update to the new versions.
